The Supreme Purpose

The aim and purpose of knowing and serving the Lord is to glorify His name.

Main Text: 1 Peter 4:10-14

Watchword: …that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Thessalonians 1:12) NKJV

Let your desires and deeds point to Jesus.  To glorify the name of the Lord is to show the world what the person of the Lord is like. This relate to your motive for serving Him.

The goal of Paul’s prayers for believers is that the name of the Lord might be seen in and through them. The name of Jesus refers to His attributes, His character, who He is and what He does. In other words, he prayed that the lives of every believer will reflect Jesus in all that they do, in their character and conduct (Philippians 3:10).

Only the grace of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ can bring about the kind of life that reflects Jesus’ character and conduct. God has given you sufficient grace and strength to stand firm in the day of trouble, to become a living example of the godly behaviour and Christlike character for the honor of His name. Hold fast, keep steady and remain faithful.

Confession: Heavenly Father, I pray that in all I say and do that the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified in me and I in Him.

Prayer: Oh Lord, let my life reflect your greatness and glory.
