When you are down and defeated, you need the word and a prayer for your heart.
Main Text: 1 Peter 5:7-10
Watchword: Comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work. (2 Thessalonians 2:17) NKJV
It is the word of God that will always encourage your heart. (1 Thessalonians 4:18). When you fasten your soul to the Word, you will not waver or be unstable in your faith.
Paul prayed for the comfort, encouragement, establishment and strengthening of the Body of Christ, which is the Church. Possessing God’s strength and comfort will enable you to live out your faith in words and deeds in a way that honors God. As a believer, you have the power to confront trouble with bold confidence in God and to encourage others by speaking helpful words and performing kind and loving deeds. Deriving your encouragement and strength from God, you can talk and walk in a way that pleases Him.
You preach a sermon each day with your life. As others watch you, they observe how you react to problems, they want to know if you live consistently with what you believe. As you abide in Christ and enabled by the Spirit of God, your works and words will be beneficial to others. (Psalm 19:14). Let your works match your words.
Confession: My strength comes from God’s word. I am encouraged and comforted to live for you, oh Lord.
Prayer: Oh Lord, help me to live and practice what I say so that I will not live a double standard life.
