Two Feet, One Foot – It Doesn’t Matter!

Exo. 3:5
And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Joshua 5:15
And the prince of Jehovah’s host said unto Joshua, Put off thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

The two men in our texts, Moses & Joshua, had similar encounters with God. Moses, however was commanded to take off his SHOES from his FEET, while Joshua was commanded to take off his SHOE from his FOOT. Now, there is no proof or evidence that Joshua was one-legged; however I do think these differences in taking off of their shoes was for a reason!

Have you ever felt under-privileged? Under-qualified? Unworthy? Have you ever felt like you don’t deserve so-so-and-so position, role, favor etc? Well then, this message is for you!

That you feel or even are under-privileged, unqualified or disadvantaged does not mean you cannot succeed! It does not mean that you cannot possess your inheritance!

The same God that stood by Moses and made him a great leader also made sure Joshua succeeded in his life and ministry; even though one’s success required taking off both shoes and the other required taking off one shoe!

Two feet, one foot – none of that matters to God! Whether you have one foot in or both feet into that organisation you are seeking employment or promotion – in fact, even if you have no feet in – God is capable of taking you to places you never imagined.

There is no need to underestimate yourself, do not think that success is only for those that have more resources/connections/beauty than you do. Because you’re not as beautiful as Sister A does not mean you’ll not get a husband; because your friend has 3 degrees and you have none does not mean God will not lift you up and even higher!

In Joshua 1:3,5; 3:7 God kept repeating himself that as He was with Moses, He’d be with Joshua too. This was because Joshua must have seen himself as under-qualified; he didn’t think he was worthy enough to enter into Moses’ shoes and continue where his able predecessor had stopped.

Looking at Moses’ achievements was enough to put fear in his heart! How he talked with God face-to-face, how through him God gave them the 10 commandments, how God used him to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, how God used him to part the Red Sea – of course, Joshua had every right to feel unworthy! Moses was indeed one-of-a-kind! (See Deut. 34:9-12). But truth was, God was through with Moses and was ready to use & make Joshua an amazing leader also – so God told him “… I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of good courage…”, the same way God is telling you now that He will not forsake nor fail you; He just needs you to be strong and to be of good courage for He will take you to inherit your inheritance and possess all your possessions, and He will cause rivers to dry up and part ways for you AND walls that denotes walls of Jericho to fall down flat before your eyes – if you believe and are strong!

So, I say to you today, whether you are not qualified educationally, financially or otherwise, as long as you are GOD-QUALIFIED, He will definitely lift you up and make you great and amazing! Just like Moses, just like Joshua! All He needs is your faith and your strength… if only you believe, then you would see the glory of God! (John 11:40)

Let us pray:

• Before this year ends, that thing that looks like a disadvantage in your life, God will use it in your favor in Jesus’ name!
• What people think will disqualify you, God will use it to qualify you in Jesus’ name! AMEN
