Words: Spiritual Containers

From our previous lessons on Power Of Your Words, we have learnt that if we are going to be satisfied with good, it will start with the words we speak with our mouths – we must speak the solution that will solve our problems, which in turn fills our lives with goodness! Heb. 11: 3 – just as the universe was framed by the words of God, our worlds are framed by the words that come out of our mouths! We must function like God, because we are created in His image and with the capability to speak things to life – if we will speak it from our hearts and have faith in God! And we remember how we said we can control what is in abundance in our hearts – by controlling the things we see, hear, think, the kind of friendships we keep, the books we read, the music we listen to! The mouth confirms what is in the heart; guard your heart!

Today, we are going to be talking about WORDS, what they are – defining them.

Words are God’s method of operation by which He accomplishes His will, purpose and desire.

Heb. 1: 3 – “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

God will not do anything until He announces it. Isa. 55: 10, 11 says “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

God’s words set spiritual laws in motion, so does ours! Our words set laws in motion, depending on the kind of words we speak – if you speak words of sin, the law of sin and death will be set in motion; if we speak words of life, purity and righteousness, we set the laws of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus in motion.

Rom. 10: 8 – 10 – “…the word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.”

The words of our mouth are the most important things to us in the universe; faith-filled words will put us over circumstances, but fear-filled words will bring defeat. We must choose words that will make us overcome!

Words are spiritual containers that carry power – they carry love and faith, and sometimes they carry hate and fear! Every day we speak, we are filling our containers with words spoken – question is what are you filling with your container? Is it love, fear, faith, anger or hatred?

Words are seeds sown with our mouths that produce after their own kind. We might not reap the fruit of the seeds we sow with our own mouths, but they are definitely coming back to us. This is why we must not speak, in the present, whatever we do not want to see in the future because words are seeds!

CASE STUDY: THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD – SHE HEARD, SHE SAID, SHE DID

Mark 5: 25-34 – “And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, if I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, who touched my clothes? And his disciples said to him, you see the multitude thronging you, and say you, who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has made you whole; go in peace, and be whole of your plague.”

This text is about the familiar story of the woman with the issue of blood; her health issue must have kept everyone away from her – meaning that aside her suffering physically and in the hands of the many physicians she consulted with, she had no one to relate with! She had no one, she spent all she had and yet she did not get any better. But her life started to experience a turnaround when she heard of Jesus – she HEARD! Our lives are transformed by what and of whom we hear of! She must have heard of the miracles that Jesus did around her, and she determined that He would do same for her!

After she heard of Jesus, then she SAID to herself! She must have said what she said to herself constantly so that her mind believed what she was saying – that her illness would leave if she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment! Our mouths must agree with our minds, and vice versa. We must speak to hear ourselves, because our mouths can feed our minds just as our minds feed our mouths – it is a two-way street! So the woman said over and over until she believed and then took action – the true proof of our faith and belief is our action! When we don’t believe anything, we won’t take action! Now, Jesus was not in the city she was in but because she believed and spoke what she believed, her words kept drawing that hem of Jesus’ garment she needed to touch closer – her words brought Jesus closer; her faith-filled words was embedded with enough power that drew her miracle closer! It is the spiritual law of motion that we were talking about earlier! Whoever you are reading this, you need to believe that your words carry power, and begin to speak the words of power for the things you want to see in your life!

When Jesus finally got into her city, she came out of her house and because Jesus was heavily surrounded by the crowd, she crawled! Jesus was heavily guarded left and right but, with her faith and firm belief, she crawled through and touched the hem of His garment! She had touched Jesus with her mouth and heart before He got to the city, before she touched Him with her hand when He got to her city! Her mouth and heart were in agreement, and so her hand received the miracle that ended her struggle! If you will believe in your heart and speak your miracle with your mouth today, your struggle will come to an end!

The power of her words drew out the power in Jesus for the completion of her miracle! What kind of power and force are the words of your mouth drawing towards you?! Determine today to fill your spiritual containers with words of life and God’s power!

Say this prayer with me today:

Psa. 141: 3 – “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”

Lord touch my tongue with the coal of fire, help me to speak the right words. Everything I have said in the past afflicting my destiny now, I uproot it from my past and present. I take hold of my tongue in the name of Jesus. From today, I will speak only what the Lord has commanded, I will speak what I want to see, enough of speaking my experience, I will speak my expectation over my circumstance. Thank you Jesus for this word, in Jesus’ name! AMEN.
