SHELTER OUTSIDE GOD

Main Text
Psalms 4:1-8

Watchword
Then David said to Achish, “If I have now found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?”
1 Samuel 27:5 NKJV

David sought help and ran with the wrong crowd, he literally aligned himself with the enemy. Acceptance from the world, the minute you turn away from the will of God, the world will welcome you with open arms (1 John 2:15-17).

We will always have an excuse when we compromise. We are involved in shady deals and lifestyles, compromising relationships, and business arrangements that we know are not quite right. We are going along with some things that would embarrass us if anyone else knew. Compromise start with a thought that develops to a plan that turns to commitment which eventually becomes a lifestyle.(Proverbs 16:25).

Thankfully, our mistakes cannot ruin God’s plans one way or another, the Lord gets His way. By our disobedience, we may alter the playbook of our life but not the outcome. So David’s escape becomes opportunity for the Lord to simply work in a different way to achieve His goal (Romans 8:28-30).

Confession
Heavenly Father, thank you for your word which strengthens and protects, help me to hear your voice more clearly that I may live a life pleasing to you.

Prayer
Oh Lord, work in me and cleanse me from all ground that would give the enemy a foothold in my life. Amen.
