Pitfalls to Avoid for Celebration to Come

To experience God’s visitation for celebration and jubilation, there are certain PITFALLS TO AVOID:

– NEGATIVE THINKING PATTERNS

Most people resign themselves to poverty and negative mindsets. They think it is impossible for them to experience the kind of joy that other people are enjoying. They forget that with men things might seem impossible, but with God rejoicing is very possible!

Do not be like Nathanael and think that nothing good can come out of you or your family (John 1:45,46).

– HURRY

God has different plans for everyone, and these plans have their own time frames. God’s plan will happen when they SHOULD happen; why run somebody else’s race?! Rom. 4:21, if God has said it, He will do it in His own time.

Why be in a hurry and lose/ruin everything?! Shortcuts will only cut short your life. Sarah was in a hurry and took Hagar to Abraham to bear him a child. Hagar had Ishmael and things have not remained the same since then. Esau was in a hurry to eat and as a result sold his birthright, lost his position as the first born son and had his blessing taken away from him! Need I say more!

– PRIDE

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD, but giveth grace unto the humble.” – James 4:16

“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.” – Prov. 11:2

Most people think all they have and have achieved is by their power and their own doing, like that rich fool in Luke 12:16-20! What of the God that gave you the power to do all these things?! Mary didn’t feel proud to have been the chosen one to bear the Saviour of the world, she didn’t say “yeah, I totally deserve to be Christ’s mother because I’m a virgin”, rather she humbled herself when the angel Gabriel came visiting.

Pride will not make you obtain God’s blessings. Do not take the glory that belongs to God like Herod did in Acts. 12:21-23, he was eventually eaten by worms.

– GIVING UP ON GOD

Some people have the habit of giving up on God when it seems like His blessings are still far away or might never come. Take a cue from Mordecai, even when Esther was reluctant to go before the king, he never gave up. When things go awry, you don’t just give up and wait for death, no! If a door closes for you, do not give up on God because He might be about to open up the roof for your sake!

What seems irreversible by man CAN be reversed by God. Esther, Mordecai and the Jews did not give up on God, and an order that would have ordinarily been irreversible was reversed, Haman died instead of the Jews!

God is set to do great things in our lives, things that will give us a cause to rejoice! He is set to do the impossible in our lives. He is set to give us jaw-dropping surprise and miracles!

I pray today that the God that resurrected dry bones in Ezekiel 37 will restore your life, career, business, health and marriage to a glorious state! He will visit you for blessing and restoration in Jesus’ name!

God bless you!
