LIVING COURAGEOUSLY PLEASES GOD

Main Text
Joshua 1:1-9

Watchword
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 NKJV

Understanding this text can help us face challenges in life with faith and confidence. These comforting words can apply to all of us as we seek to live a good life and overcome our own unique challenges. Like Joshua, we seldom have all the answers to our personal challenges. But God promises that when we turn to Him for guidance, we will succeed. He has the answers and the strength we need to face any challenge before us. He was with Joshua, and He will be with us. (1 John 5:4)

Courage doesn’t mean that I am not afraid. It means that I fear God more than I fear my environment. It means that I trust in divine resources more than the resources of man. If you act courageously, you will get more courage. God is with you, but He will only strengthen you when you take a step to go forward. If you are practicing sin as a Christian, you are doing so because you do not believe that God is with you. When we realize the truth of God’s presence with us, it will keep us from sinning. (Exodus 20:20)

The Christian life is based on this reality of God’s presence with us.(Matthew 28:20). Are we living in the reality of this affirmation that God is with us? If so, we shall be strong and courageous. We shall not be terrified or discouraged; rather, we shall be bold. We shall not do evil, but what is right. The blessed presence of God will guarantee our success.

Confession

Father help me to rely on your ability to be bold in the face of challenges in my journey of life. Amen
