A Daily Devotional with David Olatona – RELIANCE, A CALL TO DRAW NEARER
Main Text
Hebrews 10:32-39
Watchword
Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. Hebrews 10:35 (NKJV)
This is an exhortation to motivate believers to persist in the loyalty of their faith in order to obtain an eternal reward of victorious life and spending eternity with God. (James 1:2-4) It is an encouragement to believers who are drifting, throwing away what they stood for, wavering in their faith because of the problems (trials and hardships) they are facing now. Trials will also come as long as you are alive and it will always cause you either to react, hang on or to endure.
There may be trials you will have to take for sometimes in your life (the Lord willing I hope you pass them all). The concept of the test and trials is to build perseverance in your life if you will allow them to and to draw you closer to God if you respond correctly. God uses any hardship or difficulty that we encounter to equip us for what lies ahead and will reward us for doing His will if it is handled the way God wants it handled, to produce maturity and completeness in us.
If you don’t need to be delivered, you won’t come to know the deliverer. If you don’t have challenges, you would not come to know God. If you have no questions, you don’t need an answer. When perseverance has finished its work we will be mature and complete, we will be healthy people who know who we are and what God has called us to do. To do God’s will in the present, don’t throw away your confidence in Christ.
Confession
I will not fizzle out, I will not fall, I will not falter, I will not fail. The devil will not sift me out. I will endure to the very end.
Prayer
Grant me the strength to cope with adversities, empower me to overcome trials and challenges. Give me the grace to work for you and walk with you till the end of time…..in Jesus Name. Amen
