A Daily Devotional with David Olatona – THE FOUNDATION OF ALL WISDOM – 11/07/2020
Main Text:
Proverbs 1:1-33
Watchword:
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of God is an affectionate reverence that results in humbly bowing to the Lord’s will. Right fear of God is an awe and admiration which manifest itself in unflinching obedience. Fear of God goes hand in hand with love of God. Love is one side while is fear the other. Love prompts one to do what pleases God (John 15:14) while fear prompts one to refrain from what displeases God.
To seek God, to lay down everything about our lives before God, to honor God and to determine to do nothing but God’s will, that is the foundation for everything for this life and the next. This is the master key that opens every important door to salvation, to happiness, to fulfilment and to giving God His rightful place over our lives. That holy awe and deep wonder is “the fear of the Lord” and that is “the beginning of knowledge.”
Wisdom is the proper use of knowledge. All true spiritual wisdom is found only in Christ which must affect our daily life. We can get INFORMATION “ONLINE” (from internet) but WISDOM is from “ON HIGH” (from God). James 1:5. God’s wisdom gives a balance to our character. Proverbs 1:7 summarizes the theme of the Book of Proverbs and is the key that unlocks the entire Book.
Confession:
Good Lord, may my fear of you be my wisdom, my security, and my happiness!
Prayer:
Oh Lord God fill me with wisdom and insight to make the right choices daily. Amen.
