July 3, 2020 – Daily Devotional with David Olatona – WORKS INSPIRED BY THE SPIRIT HIMSELF
Main Text:
John 15:1-11
Watchword:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
The Holy Spirit changes you from the Inside out. Not only do you receive a supernatural power for witnessing when you are filled with the Spirit, but your personality also begins to change. As you continue to walk in the control and power of the Holy Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit becomes increasingly obvious in your life. According to Galatians 5:22 the fruit of the Spirit is love.
There is one fruit of the Spirit followed by eight attributes that define the supernatural love of God. Agape love describes the unconditional love God has for the world.
1. Love is the only positive motive for goodness. Some people are “good” because they fear the consequences of doing something wrong, but that is not true goodness.
2. Faithfulness is a loving trust in people. The faith mentioned here is not the gift of the Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12:9.
3. Meekness (gentleness) is love disposition that is even-tempered, tranquil, balanced in spirit, unpretentious, and that has the passions under control.
4. Temperance (self control) is moderation the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, especially his sensual appetites.
Confession
My body is the Lord’s, my spirit is owned by HIM…..as HE enters into me, I become a manifestation of HIS works
Prayer
Turn me over to love, reduce me to love, make me a gift of love to my world. Let me love like God and give like HIM.
