Romans 4:17-22

Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

In this text, Abraham’s faith is definitely struggling here when God gave him this explicit promise. Abraham’s instinctive response is incredulity, he fell on his face and he laughed, he can’t quite fathom it, he can’t quite take it in immediately (Genesis 15:6). Abraham wrestled to believe what God was promising.
What is true of believers today was true of Abraham, God had given him a great promise, but events raised such deep questions in his heart that made he to wonder. The Lord wants us to have the strongest assurance possible because it is necessary for us to grow in the walk of faith. (Hebrews 11:1). And so the Lord pursues Abraham that he might have that assurance.
As believers we often found ourselves in the gulf between divine promise and personal experience. God’s promises are always clear but circumstances do not seem to be leading to its fulfillment. The failure in these situations is not God’s, but ours, so we need to trust God the more. (Luke 11:28).

Oh Lord, l believe your word irrespective of the impossibility around me. I grow deeper and stronger in my walk with you as I believe you. Amen
Prayer
Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to believe in your words against all odds. Amen
