Your Intention Without God

Main Text
Psalms 61:1-8

Watchword
And David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will [a]despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand”.
1 Samuel 27:1 NKJV

David exchanged spiritual reliance on God for self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency is just such a fantasy because it blinds us to God’s provision and presence and usually borne out of fear which causes spiritual insensitivity. (James 4:14). Fear is one of the tools that the enemy uses, fear caused David to seek refuge in the land of the Philistines.

As believers we are not fighting for victory, but we are fighting from victory point of view, because of what Jesus has already done for us. We all have a choice to make daily, to trust in Jesus and live in victory, or trust in the flesh and live in defeat. God cannot lie and so every time He says He is going to do something it can be counted as a promise. So happiness, joy, prosperity, victory are yours.

Just as Jesus is busy working behind the scenes to bless you and show you favor, the devil is working hard at trying to stop everything and anything he can, that is good happening in your life (John 10:10).
If you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior,
you are a threat to the enemy.

Confession
Heavenly Father, from today, I forsake the illusion of my competency and cast myself on you as you grant me grace to accept my limits and faith to trust you more.

Prayer
Oh Lord, that I may know you more intimately as the Father of mercies and the God of all grace. Amen.
