Psalms 19:1-6
Watchword
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Psalms 19:5 NKJV
The glory of the sun is like that of an excited bridegroom leaving his home to seek his bride on his wedding day; or like a well-conditioned athlete who enjoys running a race. The sun shows happy energy and seemingly enjoys its daily trip across the skies which – speaks a bold testimony of the glory of the One who made it. God is calling us to pay attention to the beauty of His Creation; and to give Him thanks and praise for how glorious He is! How long has it been since you have look at the beauty of His handiwork and praised Him for it? (Habakkuk 3:18)
The sun always shows readiness, velocity, and strength when it rises everyday, though it has been there for thousands of years, yet every morning it rises with the same cheerfulness, pursuing its course, and is never weary. The sun is one of the great symbol of God in nature, just as the sun is needed to give light and strength to all living things on earth, so God is needed to give moral light and spiritual strength to men. The heat of the sun shines all across the planet. It’s light is seen everywhere every day (Psalms 28:7).
The sun and moon perform their daily revolutions flawlessly. The sun, as the most glorious heavenly body, is specially used here to portray an opinion, its cheerfulness, daily extensive course, and it’s reviving heat (including light), well display the wondrous wisdom of his Maker. All these shows the loveliness and beauty of Christ, as He is seen in the ministration of the Gospel, the joy unspeakable and the glory which His presence yields (Isaiah 61:10).
