The Value of God’s Word

Watchword
More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalms 19:10 NKJV

The Psalmist talks about the desirability or value of God’s word, within the context of both wealth and that which is sweet to the taste. The Bible is God’s word and if we are in love with God, then His word is precious to us, like gold, and it is sweet to us, like honey. God’s word is to be valued more than the most precious of material things. When we recognize the great value of God’s Word, its sufficiency will become plain and evident in our life as well. (Psalms 119:11).

Everyone is looking for the best investments for their money and time. We want to know what investments are most valuable, which will retain their value, and will grow in value. The best investment for your life is to invest yourself in God’s word. Choose God’s instruction above silver or rubies, because God’s words are more precious than gold. God’s word was not only to be held in greater esteem than material wealth, but it is also greater than experiences of our senses. (Job 22:22).

God’s word has value both for this life and the one to come.(1Timothy 4:8) God’s word gives you counsel to guide you and to draw you closer into relationship with God. The Bible will guide you safely through this life and into the next because the earth has nothing of value that can even compare. When you invest in God’s word, you are making an eternal investment. There are many paths to take in life, unfortunately many of them only lead you to trouble and grief. But when you love God’s word, when you treasure it more than gold, more than pure gold, you will be protected from every wrong path.

Confession
