A Spirit-filled believer is a Christ-filled believer.
Main Text: Isaiah 11:1-5
Watchword: The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. (Isaiah 11:5) NKJV
The anointing that Jesus received in sight of many at His baptism is the same anointing by the Holy Spirit that believers receive. (1 John 2:20). The filling of believers with the Holy Spirit is meant to mark us to be of Christ. This was not limited to the twelve apostles but was on all of us that are believers. (Galatians 5:25).
Beloved, what drives you? What motivates you? What do you live for? What keeps you going when life becomes bored? What controls you? Some people are driven and controlled by their sensual passion, while others are controlled by their wealth. Others still are controlled by their achievements and many other people are controlled by things they cannot even define. Even believers are slaves to things they were delivered from because they refused to give the Holy Spirit control of their lives.
We can either be servants of righteousness or be slaves to sin, but who or what we submit to is totally by our discretion. Infact, who or what we submit to takes control of us. (1 Corinthians 7:22). As believers, the Holy Spirit has the sole right over us because we have been purchased by the blood of Jesus and He is now in control of our lives to give us a beautiful and an enviable life of the kingdom. If we prayed and sought our Father’s will like Jesus did, we will learn how to walk in the Spirit.
Confession: Heavenly Father, thank you for caring about us so much that you sent the Holy Spirit to guide us to a righteous life. Help us to relinquish control of our lives to the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Oh Lord, place a strong desire to live a lifestyle that is dependent on the leading of the Holy Spirit and characterized by the fruit of the Spirit.
