The Nature Reveals God’s Glory

Main Text
Psalms 19:1-6

Watchword
Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun.
Psalms 19:4 NKJV

This verse shows us that natural revelation reaches every place on earth, therefore it reaches every person. Revelation is the self-disclosure of God to man as it unveils that which was previously hidden. There are two types of revelation: general and special. General revelation refers to God’s disclosure of himself in creation while the special revelation is God’s revelation of Himself in the Scripture.  It is only by means of special revelation that we can make sense of the general revelation and can know the mind of God (Isaiah 28:13).

The Psalmist poetically described the nighttime sky as a dwelling place – a tent, a tabernacle – for the sun. The sun comes out of its “tent” every day to cross the heavens, and returns to its tabernacle at night. Here, the sky is referred to as the domain God has given to the sun. He established its place and the way we observe its track through the sky. Just as the sun with it’s light bring comfort to all the world, so Christ, the Son of God, reaches His benefits to all men, so that we will receive it thankfully, and not refuse it disobediently.(Malachi 4:2 )

God’s self-revelation of His glory through the heavens is a testimony that is given plainly to people worldwide. It is a testimony that is continual, universal, and pervasive. The sun is noteworthy example of how God testifies of Himself in the heavens. Sometimes were are impressed by a certain wonder of a landscape scene, and other times by a night-scape. The Psalmist draws special attention to the sun, the most prominent member of the daytime choir. (Romans 10:18)
