Matthew 20:1-16
Watchword
For who will heed you in this matter? But as his part is who goes down to the battle, so shall his part be who stays by the supplies; they shall share alike.” So it was, from that day forward; he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day.
1 Samuel 30:24-25 NKJV
David established a new rule in the army, everyone shares alike. We must apply this principle to our daily life and attitude, that every role is crucial, we are all important and we need one another to survive. We are gifted differently by God and we play different roles, but no member is more important than the others. (1Corinthians 12:23-24).
David saw their victory as a collective effort, and so every man should have an equal share of the spoils. As part of any team, and we should learn to share victory together because everyone contributed to the success of the battle in one way or the other, with each member playing a different role.
David was also dealing with greed among the people, Saul earlier refused to rebuke the people’s greed (1 Samuel 15:19). Do
what God has enabled and allowed you to do for His glory, whether you are out on the front lines or if all you are able to do is stay by the stuff.

Prayer
Oh Lord, give me the grace to always place value on the contributions of others. Amen.
