Main Text
Psalms 34:4-17

Watchword
So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”
1 Samuel 30:8 NKJV

David is not going to depend on his common sense. He saw this greater need now to trust, seek, and consult God. He inquired of the Lord for guidance by asking what to do.(Proverbs 3:5-6). We must prayerfully inquire of the Lord every time before making any decision no matter how small.

It is awesome to know that the Lord hears and answers our prayers (Psalms 50:15). The Lord granted David the permission he sought (pursue = a command), and gave David confidence of victory in the process (total recovery = a promise). God assures David he will not only overtake this band, but he will also completely rescue all that has been taken.

Learn to put God in the rightful place in your life and then ask Him what to do next. Ask for His wisdom, don’t assume you know what next needed to be done. David sought the face of God by making his desire known to God and waiting for God’s approval (Hebrews 5:7)

Confession
Heavenly father, I receive your sufficient grace to cultivate the habit of always inquiring of you and waiting for answers.

Prayer
Oh Lord, give me the grace to inquire and follow you in all that I do. Amen.
