Let God Be Your Priority

A Daily Devotional with David Olatona — LET GOD BE YOUR PRIORITY

*Main Text*
1 Kings 18:20-21

*Watchword*
And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
1 Kings 18:21 NKJV

Many people think by being quiet and maintaining a low profile that trouble and sin will just go away. Then you are deceiving yourself and anyone who trusted you with that philosophy about life. Faith will always present you with opportunities to stand up while life in fear will present you with opportunities to shut up.

Isreal were guilty of what many people are guilty of today. On the one hand, they enjoyed their name as God’s people, but on the other hand, they loved the sensual, fleshly appeal of Baal worship. Believers now want the assurance that they are saved and membership of one church or the other, but they also want to hold on to their sins too. They want heaven, but they also want alcohol now and then. They want to be able to pray when they have a need, but they want to live life by their own rules and do as they please. How long are you going to waiver or vacillate between two ways of life?” (2 Timothy 2:19)

Divided allegiance is as wicked as open idolatry! This is proven by Christ’s condemnation of the church at Laodicea (Revelations 3:14-22). A person is either for Christ or against Him, you cannot be neutral. You cannot occupy the middle of the road (Matthew 12:30). Where do you stand in regard to the Lord Jesus Christ? There is only one place in your heart for only one Lord and one God! The bottom line is this: you have to make a choice! Who will you serve? Who is really the Lord of your life? You really can’t have it both ways! If you say you love the Lord and deny Him by your life, you actions and your activities, then you really don’t love Him at all!

*Confession*
Open the eyes of our heart oh Lord, make us aware of the gods we are tempted to worship and empower us to forsake them to serve only You.

*Prayer*
Oh Lord fill my heart with integrity to be able to stand out for you everywhere and the grace to set you as my first priority. Amen.
