Is There Not A Cause?: Fellowship

I Cor. 1: 9, 10 – “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

God made us as creatures of fellowship; we are not meant to live alone – this is why we form friendships, companionship, associations for problem-solving, care and achievement purposes.

However in all the fellowships that exist, the Christian fellowship is the greatest and the most powerful because there is Power in our midst – we have the power of God binding us together, we are fellowshipping with God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost! It is a fellowship of the spirit – because we gather together, believe and agree on the same things; we acknowledge the presence of God and enjoy that presence. We know together that God loves us, and because of this love nothing can touch us, no evil can touch the one that God loves – the beloved! It is a sweet experience fellowshipping together with brethren of like minds, because from the day that you know that God loves you and loves your brother in the Lord, nothing can touch you all! Halleluyah!

Knowing therefore that in fellowship, there is abundant blessing; we should therefore know that whenever something disrupts fellowship, the blessing will be disrupted – this is why we MUST gather TOGETHER! Nothing must disrupt the fellowship!

“FOR WHERE TWO OR THREE ARE GATHERED TOGETHER IN MY NAME, THERE AM I IN THE MIDST OF THEM.” – MATTHEW 18: 20

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GATHER?

  • Humility must be involved. The more humble you are in fellowship, the more blessed you will be. Jesus was the Son of God, He was a part of the Trinity, He knew He was one with God and He knew the measure of His own glory, yet He was humble to the end! We must leave our worldly statuses behind – chairman, CEO, family head, elder, HOD – and we must fellowship in humility before our Maker, and with the brethren! There should be no lording over anyone! Being proud and aloof in fellowship is like being one broomstick that claims to be able to kill a swarm of flies; BUT when humility is displayed and we gather together, we become a bunch of broomsticks tied together, powerful enough to kill the swarm of flies!
  • Love must be involved. When we love each other, we have moved from death to life – “we know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.” (I John 3: 14). When we walk in love, wherever we fall, we can rise again! If we fellowship together in love, and strike down every strife, when one falls we can help him rise up again because the everlasting love of God radiates amidst us – in fellowship we must uphold each other!
  • Trust must be involved. This is the highest form of faith; it is faith in the love of God. In fellowship, we must walk in faith and trust in God’s promises – we must gather together knowing that God is able to do for us things we cannot do for ourselves.

These are our responsibilities – to fellowship in humility, obedience, submission, love, trust and faith; to serve God together with all our strength, hearts, souls and minds. The more the merrier, the greater the number of fellowshippers, the greater the authority received – the devil fears fellowship, because he knows that where the brethren are truly and sincerely gathered unto God, he will be the loser.

We must not take our duty of fellowshipping lightly, because it is only in fellowshipping that we can break chains, build each other up strong and together cast the devil out – there is so much that can be achieved if we worship and pray in one accord, willingly and sincerely – we can lose and bind and put the devil to shame!

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” – Eph. 3: 17 -21

Because we know that God loves us, we must love one another and therefore must radiate and express that love in our fellowship – this is the cause: FELLOWSHIPPING in love!
