GOD’S LIGHT IN OUR PATH

Main Text
Psalms 34:1-10

Watchword
They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.
Psalms 34:5 (NKJV)

The psalmist here is referring to the lives of all the faithful. God’s people will have hope as long as they look up to him. What a means of blessing, one look at the Lord may be! In a look at the crucified One, there is life, light, liberty, love, in fact everything you will ever need. That hope is not rooted in our own worthiness, but in the worth that God has attributed to us. Though disdained by the world, we have no reason to be covered with shame (Psalms 16:11).

Those who seek the Lord in prayer are described as “radiant.” The anxious looks will always departs when help comes so a lightened heart makes a brightened face. There is no reason to be downcast if we look to the Lord in prayer. Looking to him, as he is seated upon the right hand of the throne of God, will keep our heads, and especially our hearts, steady when going through the deep waters of affliction.
Consequently, it is proved that those who wait on God will not be put to shame. (Psalms 125:1).

And their faces were not ashamed. Their faces were covered with joy but not with shame or embarrassment. We can look up above our weakness and helplessness to the One who is a “Stronghold in the day of trouble” (Psalms 61:2; Psalms 121:1). Everytime we look up the Lord, we will always find light and comfort in Him, so we are brightened up, our faces will began to shine as our spirits are uplifted. The more we can think of our Lord, and the less on ourselves, the better.

Confession
Oh Lord as I cast all my cares on you, let my desires be after your very heart.

Prayer
Father, I desire to know you more; as I experience the fullness of joy that is found only in your presence. Amen.
