God is Worthy to Be Praised

Main Text
Psalms 66:1-12

Watchword
Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious.
Psalms 66:1-2 NKJV

Praise is God’s most righteous due, and every Christian, as the recipient of His grace, is bound to praise God from day to day. It is true we have no authoritative rubric (a set of instructions or rules) for daily praise; we have no commandment prescribing certain hours of song and thanksgiving; but the law written in our heart teaches us that it is right to praise God. Yes, it is the Christian’s duty to praise God. It is not only a pleasurable exercise, but it is the absolute obligation of our lives. (Psalms 67:3-5).

As believers, we all have a unique calling, a unique missions and a unique identity in the Spirit. Now about worship and praise, God does not want us to be anybody else. Be who you are supposed to be in worship. God is excited about our unique identity, He is excited about who we are just like He is excited about the uniqueness of each individual. So let’s avoid copycat worship and bring our identity proudly before our maker on His throne. God is glorified in our authentic worship, in being who we are, being authentic, not trying to be anybody else, but simply focused on being passionate about His glory, and everything else will fall into place. (Revelation 5:10)

So if you do not praise God, you are not bringing forth the fruit which He, as the Divine Husbandman, has a right to expect at your hands. (John 15:1-2). Always strive, with a grateful heart, to give God the glory, arise and chant His praise. With the dawn of every new day, lift up your notes of thanksgiving, and let every setting of the sun be followed with your song. Girdle the earth with your praises; surround it with an atmosphere of melody, and God Himself will listen from heaven and accept your music.

Confession
Thank you Lord God for the opportunity to worship you because you are the glorious God who formed, loves, forgive, saves, called and empowered us.

Prayer
Oh Lord, show us daily how to love you like you have loved us. Amen.
