Everything we do must fall under the motivation of the approval of Jesus. This will clarify any doubt of selfishness in our service to Him.
Main Text: 1 Peter 4:7-11
Watchword: And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.(Colossians 3:17) NKJV
There is no division between the spiritual and secular, everything we do at home, play, or work, God wants us to do it for His glory. (1 Corinthians 10:31). Nothing is too small or too ordinary, God does not want us to treat anything we do indifferently.
We are to express thankfulness in whatever we do in word or deed for God’s glory. (Ephesians 5:20). The capacity to give thanks depends on our recognition of God’s grace both provided in the Word and His acts in our lives. We thank God the Father, in the name of Jesus. It is through Jesus we are saved and have a new life (Acts 4:12). Being constantly filled with and focused on thanksgiving and gratitude, we are more likely to ensure that whatever we do in word or deed is for God’s glory.
Every single thing you do, you are to do it all as a representative of the Lord Jesus. As a believer, you represent Christ at all times. This is the overarching principle that should govern our lives. Our relationship with Him is not about a set of rules, human minds will never make enough individual rules to cover every possible situation. Instead, we are to submit everything, and every moment to Christ. Instead of living by a set of rules or checklist, we are to submit to Him in whatever we think or do.
Confession: Thank You Father that we are called by Your name. May all we do in word and deed be carried out in the name of Jesus and to His praise and glory.
Prayer: Oh Lord, whatever I do today, help me to do it for Your glory and in Your name.
