Conquest and Victory of Wisdom

A Daily Devotional with David Olatona – 16/07/2020 — CONQUEST AND VICTORY OF WISDOM

Main Text:
Proverbs 1:1-33

Watchword:
Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.
Proverbs 1:8–9 (ESV)

It is often the nature of the young to be slow to receive the wisdom of the older generation. Teaching the children wisdom is the responsibility of both parents. The degree to which a child obeys his/her parents early in life often dictates the degree of submission to other authorities when the child becomes an adult. If a child learns to despise his parental authority (those whom he sees), he will not submit himself to the authority of God, he cannot see. Proverbs 4:20-22

Parents have responsibility to train and not leave it for the world, educational system or the church. The parent teaches and train – using correction, discipline, chastening, punishment, reproof and warning to drive home the point to the child who is to be learning from them. A wise parent does not hesitate to use discipline (rod) if instructions has not been heeded to by the children.
Proverbs 22:15

The children must be trained so that they learn to view their entire lives as being lived in the sight of God. Therefore, all of their choices are to be seen and measured with respect to their relationship to God.
Children must learn to listen and follow the word and the warning of their parents. It will go a long way to prepare them for the world they will face and to gain valuable victories early in life over the flesh and over that part of them that need to overcome the world.

Confession

Help me to lead my children aright, give me kids that have the heart of followership and souls that pant for God.
